Fellowship Hall
May 1972 marked the beginning of the
end of an important era for Mt Comfort Methodist Church. On
Mothers Day, disaster struck when a tornado touched the existing
building of worship. It was not a big storm and nobody was hurt but
the frame of the church shifted off the foundation.
The decision was made to build a new
church. This became which is now our Fellowship Hall. The building
began with the formal groundbreaking ceremony held April 1, 1973. On Sunday October 14, 1973 was the final day of preparation. The
congregation held a 24 hour prayer vigil asking God bless the new
structure. The first services in the new building was October 21, 1973.

The building came to a cost of $100,000. The value of
the building far exceeded this figure because much of the finish work was
done by church members, including insulation, painting, interior wood
finish, ceiling tile, carpeting, walks and landscaping. The facility
included a large worship center, eleven classrooms, a conference room, an
office, and a kitchen with amenities like air conditioning, extensive
sound system and laboratories in three classrooms. The members of
the building committee were Floyd Kuhn, Chairman; Marvin Sparks,
Treasurer; Rose McKinney, Secretary; Don Kennedy; Ortin Ralstin and Jerry
Fentz.
